ABOUT ME
Welcome, friend.
I’m Trudy, an author, speaker, and Editor-in-Chief of The Bloom. I’ve come to believe that everyone has a sad story, and that used to really bum me out. But then I realized if everyone has a sad story to tell, that’s normal, right?
Once I had that ah-ha moment, I was able to accept my place in the rest of humanity instead of singling myself out. And from that place of acceptance, I have been able to redefine myself and who I want to be tomorrow and the next day and the next.
I’m not there yet, but that’s part of the fun of the adventure–the getting there. Every day, I think of what I can do to get closer to my destination. And my destination is to tell as many people as possible about my journey to happiness, to meet new people, and to hear their stories along the way. As far as I’m concerned, my journey is just getting started!

The power of good news is realizing that we have more in common than our differences. And good news always brings people together.

If you do nothing, nothing will change. Everything will stay the same. So choose to do something or, at least, choose to want to do something. Start wherever you need to start, but start to do something.

A success story starts with one small decision followed by action. It’s not luck or chance or that some people are happy and successful while others are not. It’s knowing we have the power to live the life we want to live by making changes and enjoying the journey along the way. And when adversity comes, welcome it. It’s confirmation of change.

Good News is Good News

It seems that the world is getting worse and worse every day–no, every minute of every day, especially when we read or watch the news. It’s always bad, bad, bad. That is my main complaint about the news today.
The truth is, there isn’t really more bad news happening in the world than there is good. There can’t be because governments all over the world would collapse if there were constant war, crime, famine, homelessness, and joblessness. But that isn’t the case, is it? Read more. . .
Acceptance and Forgiveness

Have you held a baby? Do you remember that feeling of wonder and amazement at the miracle of new life? And did you think of all the possibilities that baby could do when they grew up? I have with every baby I’ve ever held. Never once did the thought cross my mind that one day this baby would be a serial killer, rapist, or thief. I might have had concerns for their environment, such as whether they are safe, well cared for, and loved. But I could never imagine that baby not being or doing what it was destined to do with its life here on earth.
Now, take that thought to its next logical step. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was once a baby just as innocent as any other baby in this world, and so was Adolf Hitler. So the question is this: What happened to those babies to cause them to commit such atrocities? Something must have happened to them because I can not believe any baby is born a killer, sociopath, or rapist. Read more. . .
Shame is a powerful enemy. It tells you you are wrong, not what you did or someone else did to you was wrong. Love says you are a beautiful creation with a purpose and blessing to the world and all you know. Choose love always.

The Books
So I married a narcissist. In my defense, I didn’t know he was a douchebag. How could I recognize a narcissist when I was surrounded by narcissists from birth? In his defense, he didn’t know he was a narcissist, either. But then again, to be a narcissist, you can never admit that you are one, and I’ve never met a narcissist who changed.
It all began the moment we said, “I do.” A counselor would later tell us that we became family the instant we got married. And that’s all fine and good when both marriage partners come from a healthy family, but not so good in our case. I’m not a psychologist , but I’m certain no one is born a narcissist, just like no one is born an enabler.

THE JOURNEY
Finding happiness, peace, and acceptance in life, who you are, and how you relate to the world in general is nothing short of the biggest surprise of all!
